Does the film actually have this image of the full length bomb in it? Or does clever editing just mean that I think I remember it being that way? (That cartoon is one from Bunny Suicides, a page which contains a lot of B&W images.)
No, as far as I recall you don't see the full image, it is just hinted upon.

Indeed. The background may be a bit different, but you definitely see Slim riding the bomb down.
