Happiness is working ADSL. My best friend (as defined by British Telecom) is now a human :-)
Now all I need to do is get wireless. Right now I have enough CAT5 cable to reach from my house to the station platform, but I don't think that it's a great idea runing it there. Partly because someone else might find the far end and decide to plug into it (or worse), but principally because I'd have to run it under the track, and I doubt that the insulation is rated to 750V, or that the cable would be too happy carrying >4500 Amps. (South of London electrification uses a 3rd rail system, one new 12 car train can draw 4500 Amps (it could try for more, but the circuit breakers tend to go pop))
