The plumber came again today. He seems to do grouting in two passes, because the last little area of tiles that wasn't grouted yesterday has some grouting in it today. But clearly it's not finished, and he's left a stepladder in the shower, so I presume he'll be back tomorrow.
Gosh. At this rate I'll be assuming that the kitchen ceiling will be taking four times whatever estimate they give us, not just three.

With 4 of us sharing, it will take a bit of organising to make it all happen smoothly. I agree with you that it' unlikely that the kitchen ceiling is going to be the last problem, so it is time to abandon ship.
