At the weekend I visited my parents. While walking the dog after dark I saw eight satellites. This is a new record for a night - previously I believe the most I've seen is two. More surprising is that this was in the suburbs of London, 9 miles from the centre. I can report that the dog did not see the point of standing still, chasing lights across the sky. He was much keener on running around, chasing smells across the ground. Maybe he has a point - at least the intangibles he is tracking have a chance of delivering him to something real.
