something is foul

Ever since 9/11 I observed governments becoming more and more estranged to their citizens.

I see that there are constantly new laws in the making that infringe civil liberties.
All this is done with one reason: we, the normal, law-abiding people are to be protected from terrorists. We are supposed to believe that our freedom can be defended by infringing it.
The terrorists have already won. Our freedom is not what it was and what it's supposed to be.
What a sad time for democracy ...

What's that old saying?

Freedom is something you assume, then you wait for someone to try to take it away. The degree to which you resist is the degree to which you are free...

"Die Lösung" -- B Brecht

Nach dem Aufstand des 17. Juni

After the uprising of the 17th June
The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee
Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government
And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier
In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?
