I made a developer release of XML::Atom 0.21_01, which has a great internal refactoring and Atom 1.0 category support.
I was trying hard to make sure it's backward compatible, but if it breaks your code (which would be possible if you use undocumented features etc.), ping me before I make a new 0.22 release.
