Well, when I first wrote that I was unsure about this journal thing, I now see I've become an addict.
And I've "subscribed" (via the Friends mechanism) to a few dozen other journals, which I read on an hourly basis while I'm online. I'm hooked!
What's odd is that this feels a lot more like the way Usenet was, originally. Where people posted articles, and got feedback. Where an article was an article.
So, are "weblogs" (or whatever you want to call them) the Usenet of the century?

Dear sir, here is a confidential business proposal. [...]
Now I can sound like an old timer! "Yeah, I remember back in the day when I could read every use Perl; journal and every post. In an hour!"
Personally, I find myself wishing the rest of the Internet worked like slash. I'd like to see everything modded up and down so I'd know what's worth reading, and have the ability to make comments and receive feedback on my comments in the form of moderations and replies.
