"You are clearly not skilled enough to even compile code..."

From a recent email to the misc@openbsd.org mailing list:

Oh give it up. You are clearly not skilled enough to even compile code, let alone provide consulting services.
said Theo de Raadt to me, regarding a problem I was having with the OpenBSD FAQ on upgrading from 3.7 to 3.8. I guess it had to happen sooner or later.

Good thing he told me. I can quit my job, and go into retirement!

Wow

I thought the core Linux people could be harsh. Interesting that OpenBSD has such a flush user-base that they need not worry about how they handle people's questions.

It's not that the OpenBSD folk are obnoxious, per se. It's that Theo has a reputation for being abrasive.

Reading that one line...

It sounds like he was being sarcastic to me. Obviously he knows you can do both.

Nevermind. I read the thread. I must say he is abrasive.

What, they're writing OpenBSD in Lisp now? (See Why Lisp Still Hasn't Won.)

the followup quote

I loved the follow up quote by another list member:

"Everytime Theo speaks, I have some new quote materal."

Ouch. That was brutal. Theo de Raadt, complete prick or misunderstood genius?

You decide.

Maybe he is a bit of both, complete genius or misunderstood prick?

Not only that, but a top-poster too.
