Apparently, the recent storm made the entire island of Tortulas off the coast of Haiti go missing. 26,000 people feared lost.

Would that be the same Isle of Tortuga as in many, many pirate novels and stories from Way Back When? The one harbor where filibusters and buccaneers could safely sail into port and spend a night, a week, or a year in the city's pubs without fear?
If so, it would seem that the much-invoked wrath of God has indeed stricken it - a couple of centuries too late...
