The FedGov tax refund arrived today. So begins our climb back from the brink of financial ruin. Yay!
I can't stop thinking about what I can actually do to the house once we move back. K and I will each have a bedroom/office. We want to turn the den into a nice library. I personally want to make the old dining room the room where we actually hang out and make the living room more of an open multipurpose space kinda thing.
As for my room, I'm definitely keeping my loft but I want a better desk. And I'm claiming the futoncouch as well. And the workbench currently in the dining room. Then? I dunno. The ugly-ass chests of drawers have to go, though.
Gotta get a flatscreen HDTV. Also gotta get a method of putting media from fornax (my dev box and house filserver) onto the TV. A mediabox/hausterm seems the proper solution. Must build one of those. Also, must get to work on the media catalogue and a simple interface for it (I always drive mplayer from the command line, so I'm thinking a simple curses browser that execs mplayer would be groovy). Might be nice to make it also act as a MP3 jukebox.
A terminal for the library is a must as well, not just for net access but for access to the docs on fornax.
Man, this is gonna be so effin' rad.
