I went to my second pm meeting this evening. At the end we started talking about what we wanted to *do* as a group. The answer was: get people into perl.
I voiced my desire to use perl and linux to indoctrinate computer-inclined youngsters into the True Path of Informatics. To my great surprise no one shot the idea down as idiotic, even though I don't have a formal plan or logistics. What I *do* have is a machine already set aside as a shellbox, and (now) a small group of people who don't think it's a horrible idea.
Also, the next Hackday was announced. It's like a LAN party, only with coding and looking at other people's projects instead of deathmatches. Looking forward to that very much.
