Dear IBM,
You arguably make the most powerful general-purpose computing engines on Earth, the zSeries machines. Your POWER4 architecture has been a runaway success, both in its own right and in the form of the PPC970 (G5). The POWER5 looks even better. You designed and fab the chip that powers the Gamecube. You're going to be making the PS3's "Cell" CPU, as well as the chips for the next-gen Nintendo console *and* the XBOX 2.
So why, why oh why, are you still pimping those goddamned xSeries Xeon based servers?
Love, mdxi
people are stupid, news at 11

Because there's lots of idiots who think anything other than x86 is "proprietary" (never mind that Sparc is an IEEE standard) and therefore bad. Those fools deserve to be parted from their money. I applaud my IBM minions in their ongoing effort to bankrupt the stupid.
Because you get a lot of power for the money

Some people don't want to pay incredible amount for slow POWER4 cpus?
I never want to touch an IBM eSeries again! The xeons are 4 times as fast at 1/4 the price.
