In our organization, when I was the sysadmin I used mon to monitor our systems. Now our sysadmin uses Big Brother.
So I've let it sit (I turn it on when the sysadmin goes on vacation and I'm on the hook:), but now I'm thinking this could be very useful as a testing tool. Either in the development stage or in the beta stage when you're checking the system in the wee hours hoping to catch bugs quick.
Especially now that I'm sitting in Michael Schwern's Test::Builder session. Mon works by running a set of monitoring scripts via a scheduler. Until now I never thought about using the Test:: libraries with these monitoring scripts...
