Kill Me Now

Oh dear, I've stumbled into a painfully boring session. Unfortunately I recognize this presenter doing things that I've often done.

To repent, I'm reading up on MJD's Conference Judo slides.

This poor presenter. Obviously he knows his subject cold. What he's failing to do is communicate what he feels is exciting. Instead he's trying to present the material "properly". He should punt 90% of this material...put it on a web page.

Here are the subjects that presenters have to be very careful about, as they can be the most boring experiences ever endured:

  • API Walks - walking the audience through an API. Forgive me, I inflicted this on my students years ago.
  • Device Drivers - this could be real cool. Instead most instructors seem to just read the docs aloud.
  • Network Protocols - same as an API walk.
