I liked the RT system's config file approach, so I'm doing something similar for my PowerPoint to HTML converter.
And why write code to package up the results, scp/sftp it to another server of a different operating system, unpack it and then notify the user? Just mount the other server and write it directly. Just need some NFS client software for the PC. Yep. NFS Maestro.
While that's en route, put the SSH book back on the self and get back to the fun stuff - Jabber.
