Effing Squirrels

After my proud gardening efforts last year, when I planted many many bulbs, I was hoping to be in a position now of being able to sit back and watch a beautifull array of flowers flourish.

I now shudder at the reckless niavity.

The delightfull grey squirrels which frequent the garden have found a tasty source of food stuff buryed just a couple of inches under the ground, and on every trip into the garden I find more bulbs being dug up.

Any suggestions short of a shotgun?

Give them an easier to reach source of tasty treats to eat. Put a pile of pecans (shelled) nearby for them to find and a "trail" of pecans that lead to the squirrel feeder you've setup some distance away. You'll have to keep the feeder well stocked for a while until the squirrels get used to going there for food, then you can slack off a bit or gradually change their diet to something cheaper for you to use.

Thanks. Quite a usefull suggestion, especially as I have a large bag of peanuts that the birds seem reluctant to eat.

I'll give it a go at the weekend.
