First steps

Now debian is up and running theres a few things I need to do. First and foremost is installing cvs on it - I'll probably go for pserver access, because I like the control it gives you over check ins. I've already downloaded WinCVS, which is an excellent GUI to cvs, and should get me started.

Now I'm faced with a couple of pretty fundemental decisions. Generally I try to do most of my development in the user area ( with its own apache, perl etc ), as I find this gives a real benifit when a re-install is needed, and helps a fair bit with dependency analysis, so one decision, is how I go about building the base packages ( apache, perl, cpan modules ) - custom perl scripts or something like ant, or some other technique like make ( generally I've used perl, but Ant does sound quite appealing )? Another question is should I stay with what I know ( apache 1.3 with mod_perl ), or bite the bullet and go with 2.0?

And more ideas on the film front. I've decided to alter the begining of it totally, taking on board a technique Barbie has been keen to use. I hope its an improvment, but I get the impression it might mean a lot more work to get the rest of the film along the same lines. I'll ponder it some more and see how the idea grows.
