Maybe I won't be upgrading that Powerbook

I was planning to shortly upgrade my trusty 15" Powerbook with some more memory (my 1G DIMM refused to work with 10.4). And I did hear about the possibility of new Intel-based Powerbooks but figured it was just wishful thinking. But then I saw this on MacNN's Macworld coverage:

MacBook Pro: 1-inch thin, 5.4 lbs. 1.67GHZ Intel Core Duo with ATI Radeon X600. ExpressCard Slot. $1999 and $2499. 4-5 faster. Due in February.

...so I'll probably hold off on that upgrade and start convincing Barb she needs my old Powerbook for her tutoring business.

Maybe we can get a Perl group discount! : )

WTF? "ExpressCard"? Where's the PCMCIA?

Great. You'll pry my EVDO card out of my cold dead powerbook. Looks like I won't be "upgrading" to intel-mac-portables any time soon. {sigh}

I assumed that since newer WinIntel machines on this architecture will also have the ExpressCard slot that cardmakers (like your EVDO card) will roll out necessary updates. Is this not so? (It doesn't affect me, I'm just curious.)
