Haul

Celebrating my gf's new job, we went second hand book shopping. There's a nice stretch a short bus ride away that has something like 4 shops all in a row. Since I haven't really been bookshopping since January, it was really quite fun. I think I was slightly carried away.

  • Boiling A Frog, Christopher Brookmyre
  • Stainless Steel Visions, Harry Harrison
  • The Stainless Steel Rat's Revenge, Harry Harrison
  • The Stainless Steel Rat Saves The World, Harry Harrison
  • Catch 22, Joseph Heller
  • The Invisible Man, Herbert Wells
  • Triplanetary, E.E. Doc Smith
  • First Lensman, E.E. Doc Smith
  • Forbidden Knowledge, Stephen Donaldson
  • A Dark and Hungry God Arises, Stephen Donaldson
  • Relative Dementias, Mark Michalowski

mmmm.....

I loved those books when I was younger, Jim diGriz is one of my all time heros.

West of Eden is another good Harry Harrison book.

Hmm... haven't read any good sci-fi for a while now. Must fight urge to rush out to B&N and buy some :)

First books I've bought in ages. Only need a couple more Rats to complete the collection, but they're proving difficult to find so far. Then again, I really need to keep a notepad of books I want so that I can find things when I unexpectedly go to bookshops (2nd hand or otherwise) and can't remember which ones I wanted.

Of course, I need to update my database of what I have as well. That's been delegated to my gf (she volunteered).

Lovely Rat books - they're just so ... swashbuckling space adventure.

Right, I keep a list on me (only about 4 books) of what I lack of the known of works of Larry Niven, Douglas Adams, and Robert L. Forward in my wallet.
Suprisingly handy. Otherwise you pickup duplicate copies, especially stuff like Niven where there are so many, and have been through so many runs and covers...

DiGriz rules, so does Flandry

I also liked the Ensign Flandry series as well.

Definitely cool space opera sort of sci-fi.
