Despite the fact that I feel a bit guilty towards all the fine Perl people who are desperately seeking a new job, I have to admit I'm very happy I found a new job. The lucky employer is LunaTech, and I'm very grateful to kudra for mentioning them to me.
That's not everything: I even managed to win a bit of money last night at the casino. It was an exciting evening. First I almost lost all my money (that is, the amount I had taken with me), and I ended the evening with 280% profit. That's a good ROI for one night, especially if you know at one point I had only 10 guilders left... ;-)
I got an email from Marjan Bace (Manning's Publisher) last Friday that he wanted to call me about my book proposal. I got another good review for my proposal (this time from Schwern). That is, I think he didn't really like the proposal itself, but was positive about me and about the idea of the book. I wonder if Marjan will call me soon. I have to admit I expect not, because Manning has proved not to be reliable in meeting promises to contact me in the past, but we'll see.
I've sent in my short, informal abstracts for two talks to the organization of the German Perl Workshop yesterday. One about pVoice (which will be an update from the talk given at YAPC::Europe) and a tutorial about wxPerl, which will be a compilation of the series of tutorials I'm writing for Perl.com.
