pVoice 2.0

I've started working on pVoice 2.0 seriously now. Kevin Lenzo provided me with a binary distribution of Festival for Win32, so I can start experimenting with it. Normally I would have tried to make it work on Linux first, but since my most important user uses Windows 98 I think it's wise to concentrate on that platform first. This will be the first project I'm programming where I won't concentrate on the platform independency, which is something I find very important normally. When 2.0 is ready, I'll try to make it work on Linux. It'd be nice if that worked, but everyone who has shown interest in pVoice so far uses Windows :/.

Of course I will no longer use Tk for the graphical user interface, but switch to wxPerl which has a new version out btw.

I have a list of features for this release:

• No more pre-recorded voices, but use a speechsyntesizer to pronounce the words
• Ability to construct whole sentences and instead of speaking seperate words
• Ability to 'type' words yourself (Krista is learning reading and writing...)
• Ability for other people to record their own messages which the user (Krista) can pass on (select), so a therapist can record a message for the people at home and Krista can let it hear
• Easy import for new words/pictures (seperate program
• More speed!
• Modular interface for different input devices
