Now it is saturday and the first night of our Copenhagen Perl Mongers Code-a-thon is over.
We set out yesterday for coding a new an improved site for Copenhagen Perl Mongers after work.
We started 3 people with eating a lot of Thai f00d (mmmmmm), we where later joined by a cph.pm'er more
After this we started discussing the overall scope of the project and on how to proceed, we discarded the idea of using a methodology, even though it could have been fun - a we chose to use common sense and outlined what we saw as basic (necessary) components and extra features.
The basic parts came to be the following:
- DB (datamodel)
- DB encapsulation
- templates
- forms/CGI (administrative/maintenance stuff)
- Authentication (protection of the point above)
- Handler, the dynamic components to utilize all of the above
And the extra features and extra stuff:
- Mail agent for meetings
- Conversion of existing data
Around 04:00 in the morgening we decided to call it a day, since we could not really work any more.
Status at the time of writing is that the foundation is almost in place and we are looking at our first release, after this I think we will look into extra features etc.
