use.perl - giving up?

jonasbn on 2008-11-10T09:26:47

I am experiencing serious trouble attempting to post journal entries to use.perl.

Somebody else complained about this and somebody else responded, but I cannot find the entry again :-/

use.perl has been my primary blog for a long time, perhaps it is time to move on...

Problems...oh yes

I am having annoying password problems. I log in..nav around...and then suddenly I have to log in again. This could be as simple as logging in...reading someones journal...clicking the big blue use Perl; to get back to the home page and I am logged out? This has been going on for at least a month now. Just me?

Yeah, it will randomly log you out. Sometimes it takes three or four attempts to log on again. It won't tell you why you're not logged in, it will just ask for your user name / password.

I think it started with the upgrade a while back.

I'm seeing the same thing. The session handling is fubar. I won't even mention the CSS issues with IE 7.

Same here

Seeing the same behavior here, like the cookies are going to /dev/null.

You guys are lucky :-(

Hi Folks

The problem I have is when I'm not logged in, clicking on Journals shows me all recent entries for everybody, whereas after logging in, the same link takes me to a useless page.

I've just sent a msg to use Perl about it, so we'll see.

The other problem I have is trying to stay logged in, just like you, in order to post replies.

It's all a PITA.

Time for blog.perl.org?

The journal list also isn't shown on the front page any more, it's only available to people once they log in, if they can log in.

Give up!

You should give up so I can pass you for total entries. :)

Given that, I will give it up. Looked at Dr. Dobbs codetalk blogs, the interface is even simpler - I might give it a try.

The Dr. Dobbs people could do with some Perl content.
