Yesterday I joined
Oloh looks really cool and it might be a lot of fun, but I see a dangerous trend and I am not the only one.
I have accounts on:
And then there is the Perl sites:
And all the ones I forgot - and all of the consultant companies who require me to update my CV.
After this I spent a great deal of time configuring my account and I am only half way done, I have to make all sorts of decisions on what features I want to use and how this Oloh thing can be put to use and can compliment the other social sites to which I am signed up.
So if I just briefly examine the above lists I can conclude that some will have to go
It seems these days that sitting down in front of the computer has started to mean, signing up to and updating data on social networks, damn.
I use Linkedin for professional use and it works okay.
I am on Facebook, since it is the only social site where my wife is signed up and it is nice to have something in common.
I use Nikeplus to track my running.
I am not the most frequent user to the Perl sites, but I am not giving those up - period!
I have not used Orkut it a long time and all I seem to get is more or less weird messages from people from Brazil.
I signed up to Myspace because I wanted to ask a question to an artist I listen to, he responded - I have not gotten much further than that.
Conclusion Myspace and Orkut will have to go and I have to evaluate what I sign up to in the future... hey what is this twitter everybody is talking about??

If you like FriendFeed maybe you’ll like http://whoisi.com/ which has a very similar premise, but has a more anarchistic model. (Disclaimer: since I only just discovered it the other day, this is not an endorsement, merely a pointer.)
