According to this article from Ars Technica, Apple are having problems with the podcast term.
I wonder what their take is on pod (as in plain old documentation)?

Couldn't the Perl Foundation put the squeeze on Apple for using POD? Plain Old Documentation clearly goes back further than Apple's usage.

So I read through the letter and one sentence caught my attention:
As you might be aware, Apple has used its IPOD mark since at least as early as October 2001. Since that time, the IPOD trademark has rapidly become famous. Moreover, the term POD has also been adopted and used extensively in the the marketplace by consumers as an abbreviation to refer to Apple's IPOD player. The IPOD and POD marks indicate to consumers that portable electronic devices and related goods and services bearing those marks and marks similar thereto originate or are sponsored or endorsed by Apple.
Does this mean you get at least one trademark for free, in this case POD, if you registered the trademark IPOD?
