The Gimp++ #rectangular cookie mould selection tool

I am no graphic wizkid eventhough I come from a family of very creative people, but once in a while you need a image manipulation application to do something.

One of clients sends me these graphics files which need to be cut up to be used in the application I am maintaining and expanding. I have always used Gimp for this, I can cut out the squares I need using the rectangular selection tool, this is however not always easy using a trackpad on a laptop and it can take some time.

BUT, today I discovered a new thing, well new to me anyway, you can actually set the size of the box and since all my pieces need the same size, this is perfect - so it works exactly like a rectangular cookie mould, you press it down over your image, copy and paste as new... save... done

hurra for the gimp

That is a handy tip

I use the Gimp quite a lot but for some reason I'd never found that feature. I guess I should spend more time exploring the UI.
