CPAN cleaning

After reading bdfoys journal entry on the growth of CPAN and the need for cleanup, I went to PAUSE and deleted a lot of my old uploads - it not much but hopefully other module authors will do the same.

... but not too much

Just remember to leave at least 1 old version - for the benefit of users that cannot readily upgrade. I think here especially of FreeBSD ports users, who are stuck with the old version until the port's maintainer gets the port updated... /Lars

Hi Lars,

Intersting point but the definition of old version is a bit vague :)

In the comments on bdfoy's journal the argument was that it is a good idea to keep at least one old version for the use of the search.cpan.org tools eg. diff.

But I think you point raises a different problem - and without knowing I guess BACKPAN is the solution.

Is FreeBSD ports based on CPAN mirrors? if so could BACKPAN be added as a last resort mirror?
