I have just tagged two pre-releases of other somewhat general products as alpha versions in CVS, following the release mentioned in my journal earlier this month.
The project in which these products are playing a part are soon coming to an end, but luckily 2 of the products are going to be reused for a project with another client.
This is going to be quite an interesting exercise, maintaining and releasing patches, bugfixes and new releases of such large software systems - something I have not done on my own before.
You of course kind of get the picture of the proces being a CPAN contributor, but this is on a much larger scale and a lot of things have to be taken into consideration.
So I am going to play the roles of: product manager, architect, developer, tester, bugfixer, documentation writer, QA-responsible and user.
So I am going to be busy for the next monts, but at least I have client paying for the development so I am not running any unessesary risk - the whole business case seems rock solid.
Nice to finally focus on the thing I have been wanting to do for years - products...
