Ok, I got a Perl task today. One of my clients are dependent on an online shopping system. This system automatically exports data to an online price comparison site.
At the price site, they have created a new policy, which results in the data from my client being discarded. The owners of the shopping system have not responded to the new policy and it will probably be some time before they do (we know from experience).
So my client explained the problem to me and I could see that this sounded like a task, which could be accomplished in Perl (WWW::mechanize) easily.
So tonight I sat down took my time and enjoyed even reading the POD (you enjoy everything about Perl when you only get to do PHP every day)... so I created some protos and here 2 hours later I have a working script.. and the task is done.
So now it goes into CVS to be put into production tomorrow... and I am back to PHP.
