I held a birthday party yesterday for a lot of friends, most of them former colleagues and current colleagues - I must have been working a lot the last recent years.
I set up my powerbook for playing music instead of using CDs. I created a user called DJ and gave this user only access to the iTunes application and I copied all my mp3s from my own Music directory.
Since I still want to have access to the mp3 files when I am logged in as myself I created a symlink to the DJ users Music directory and after a little permission juggling I can listen to all my mp3s again and I can rip my remaining CDs into this diretory, so the next time I am having a party I just log in as the DJ user and fire up iTunes...
I should document this and share it.
The only thing that annoys me is that when I switch user, the music stops :-/
Maybe I should write Apple?
