Bloomsday

Today, June 16th, is Bloomsday. The day in which James Joyce's "Ulysses" takes place.

Obligatory quotation:

Stately, plump Buck Mulligan came from the stairhead, bearing a bowl of lather on which a mirror and a razor lay crossed. A yellow dressinggown, ungirdled, was sustained gently behind him by the mild morning air. He held the bowl aloft and intoned:

Introibo ad altare Dei.

As luck would have it I will be in Dublin tomorrow.

Next year...

...will be the 100th Bloomsday. I hope to be in Dublin then. -- I went to Dublin once (I stayed there only for one day) ; but I had a drink at the Ormond's bar, and I visited the Joyce museum (having bought the obligatory Ulysses map of Dublin.)

Ulysses in dutch

My dutch teacher in high school actually translated Ulysses, and won some awards for it too. It's pretty weird how that doesn't mean anything when you're 16 but it does when you're 24 :|
