This business about the star orbiting the black hole at the center of the galaxy is really striking me as profound. It's neat that there's finally some evidence to tell us what that "thing" in the center is, but what's even neater is, we've observed a galactic orbit for the first time ever! And the period is only 15 years. Human beings can literally watch a star go around the galaxy in a lifetime. Several times, in fact.
I just wish there was some way to communicate with lifeforms in other galaxies. Makes you want to post to an intergalactic online journal and shout, "Look what we did!"
