The Introduction to the third edition Llama says, You wouldn't want to write a [sic]interrupt-microkernel-level device driver in Perl (even though that's been done),.... Has it really? I tried googling for "interrupt-microkernel-level device driver Perl" and couldn't find any references. :)

Probably a reference to the CMU file system driver that was written in Perl. goole searches turn it up, but the website housing it appears to be dead.
