Kikkoman soy sauce

Kikkoman soy sauce just isn't as good as it used to be. It now seems only slightly better than the black salt-water in packets I get in most Chinese restaurants, and it seems like the quality degrades sooner. Has it changed, or have I changed? Is there a better soy sauce out there I should be looking for?

I generally buy San-J Tamari Soy Sauce. I wouldn't consider myself a soy sauce gourmet but it always seems good to me.

I look for soy sauce that says it is brewed.

Maybe I'll get off my butt tonight and see what I have in the fridge.

Once upon a time I thought Kikkoman was brewed. I wonder if that has changed.

I became aware decades ago that store brand soy sauce was crap (I come from a long line of cheapskates :) ), but once in the past couple of years I noticed my grocery store suddenly had two store brand soy sauces, one of which was brewed. I think I once daring tried the brewed one, and didn't like it.
