We have service warranties on our washer, dryer, refrigerator, and freezer. And in our case it has paid off, since we call the guy out whenever any of them makes a funny noise. The freezer compressor burnt out once, the washer bin was replaced just for being scratched. I'm not sure I would have ever got the warranty if it were just up to me, but it makes my life easier every time my wife hears one of those funny noises
