O'Reilly's Oracle SQL*Plus, The Definitive Guide's preface contains the following statement: "If you have any doubts about whether or not a command will work with the specific version of SQL*Plus you are using, check the SQL*Plus User's Guide and Reference manual for that version." Nunh-unh. Who actually does that? It should read, "If you have any doubts about whether or not a command will work with the specific version of SQL*Plus you are using, type it in and try it, you dummy! I mean, honestly, does anyone not know how to find out if a command works?
