After learning I could call ActiveState Perl programs with #! from cygwin, and learning that installing ActiveState's Perl5.6.1 and using ppm was the easiest way to get DBD::Oracle on Win32, I'm finally on a roll. The Perl for Oracle DBAs book, which I borrowed from a coworker, gives info on where to go to get DBD::Oracle for 5.8.0. I'd installed that, but had moved it out of the way and installed 5.6.1 by the time I learned.
