Exchanging Contracts

After what seems like years of struggling against some of the worst sorts of people (solicitors, estate agents, etc...) finally we get to sign the contracts for the purchase of the house tonight! I'm a little bit nervous however, as it is an awful lot of money and a big commitment for (gulp) 25 years. I've not even been alive for 25 years! What have I done?!?

Congratulations!

We're hoping to exchange contracts soon on my purchase. It does seem like a huge amount of money, but at the end of the day, all that it amounts to is less money in your bank account each month. That's all. You just let it get on with itself and don't worry about it.

Regarding the time issue, it's not a big a deal as you think, because you'll probably sell the place in a few years time anyway. And then your mortgage will (hopefully) be payed off by the sale. No more problems.
