Buffy meets Perl

gnat on 2002-12-12T20:17:54

As we all know, London.pm has a fascination (some would say obsession) with the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" tv show. As it happens, I do too. I regularly read Whedonesque, a blog of news about the show's creator's projects (Buffy, Angel, and Firefly). Imagine my surprise and delight to see an entry from the Perl Advent Calendar blogged. Woo!

We're all sick. (And we hope to take over the CPAN.)

I deny all forms of obsession

...anyway, you're the one reading Buffy blogs ;-)

Hey, I happily admit to being obsessed! I curse every time there's a rerun and eagerly devour new episodes. This season, by the way, kicks last season's ass all over Sunnydale.

Scoobies make great test objects

We use 'em in the test suite for Pixie as well, and I used them in the Not Just for Damians article too, now that I think of it.

Half hearted thanks for the pointer

There was another item on the blog pointing to confirmation that Firefly is effectively canceled. First Farscape, now this.

Feh, makes me wonder what I'm pondering throwing together my own PVR box to record.

I think they're shopping Firefly to other networks. I'd love to see SciFi or HBO pick it up.

But part of me just hopes Buffy and Firefly fade away so that Joss Whedon can do some movies. I'd love to see some serious moving pictures from him. The Buffy movie was turned into crap because he didn't have name enough to have control--I wonder what he could do if he did have control.

Willow Teaches Java

Here's a cute link to an incomplete Java tutorial. What's needed is for Giles to teach Perl. While he's not as easy on the eyes, he does inspire more confidence as a teacher. ;-)
