Perl+DBI+CGI vs Java+BroadVision

This from a good friend of mine whose company made her learn Java to migrate from Perl CGI programs to BroadVision and Java:

it takes an average of 41 seconds for BV to look up a number in a mongohuge database and then write a record to its own database.
it takes an average of 2 seconds for Perl to do the same thing. and the perl app is on a much wimpier unix box.

Yup, there's one company that just spent a lot of money to slow down their website. <grin type=perky source=marketing>But it's Java!</grin>
