RSS breeding like rabbits on E

With 0.91, 0.92, 0.93, the usual melodrama, and now 2.0, Aaron Swartz has the right idea with all-text 3.0.

We need to ridiculous this up some more. I think 4.0 should be 3.0 but with (or without, depending on how 3.0 is formulated) Unicode.

5.0 should be in ASN.1.

We'll skip 6.0 and go straight to 7.0 which is back to XML but looks like:

  title
  RSS 7.0 Released!
Then RSS 2000 (which bundles a set of stories as a MIME message), RSS ME (which represents stories as a C64 BASIC program that emits RSS 0.91), and finally back to RSS X which is a C64 emulator written in Parrot with plugins able to be written in AppleScript, Java, C++, 68000 Assembly Language, Perl 6, and Objective Perl. Oh, and it can read email, browse the web, rip CDs to MP3, and has hooks to gnotella.

Some days you wake up and think "the whole world has lost its marbles and I'm the only sane one left". Then you look at your todo list and think "there's no way I'm the sane one." :-)

Actually, I suggested to Morbus the other day that he release RSS 4.0 based on YAML. :-)

Can I quote you on that? It has the ring of a .sig to it.

Be my guest. I'll take fame and immortality wherever I can, even if it's at the bottom of a fortune file :-)

That's why I burned my TODO list. Life is so much simpler without one.

Lossy translation

I'd explain to one of my coworkers how funny this is, but then I'd have to describe the tempest in a teapot of RSS's existence. Not worth it.
