My dear country

According to two reports filed by their jetsetting travel reporter, New Zealand and New Zealanders are boring. The Sunday paper here put it on the front page. Because, like, we don't have politics or crime or a war in Afghanistan or anything else important that we might want to read about.

Fortunately, she enjoyed Queenstown. Loser. Given the choice between interesting (= anthrax and nuclear fallout) and uninteresting (= beautiful scenery, nice people, low cost of living, no nukes and no anthrax) I know what I'm chosing :-)

Sounds like a story of New Zealand from someone who loves New York. I've never been to New Zealand (yet), but I've been to New York, and I can tell you which I'll prefer...

But then different people like different things. If you grew up in the city, you'll probably always crave the hustle and bustle, the endless noise, the loneliness of it all. If you grew up in the country I suspect the big smokes will always leave you wanting.

Bah, I've lived in NY, and I have dim memories of NZ, and I love both.

Besides, doesn't NZ have an excellent social system (as opposed to the UK)? Or is that a myth created to shame Ozzies? ;-)

What makes a place interesting?

I always thought NZ was interesting because of all the Perl use there.
