I just happened to sit in on a meeting yesterday that went over the new rules (nothing finalized about these rules I might add) concerning when international students fall out of status of the consequences. Very draconian to say the least.
Basically, foreign students either have to be enrolled full time (12 credit hours per semester), or if supported (no more than half time) they can take 6 credit hours, or they can go home.
Since my university has the most foreign students enrolled in any public university this is a big deal. It's also Big Brotherish how the office that tries to help the foreign students maintain their status is also the one that has to report them when the fall out of status.
It's just insane how oppressive things are getting to be here in the land of the free and the home of the brave. Maybe things will change in a couple of years.
