That's what my wife fears will happen because we got a Pioneer DVR-810H (Tivo with a DVD-R/W burner) for Christmas.
The first purchase was about $100 of DVD-R's and DVD-RW's. The second was a Linksys Wifi/Broadband router with a USB WiFi adapter. I was thinking of making a Linux router but the Linksys was a bit less than buying the router/adapter separately.
I'm thinking about buying extra hard drives and maybe an external, multi-format DVD burner (so I can rip, mix, and burn compilations of shows and clips). For now I'll just burn to DVD-R, it's hard to beat 50 disks for $60. That's 235GB for $60, or about 100 hours of programming (I think the Extreme Quality is a bit excessive, SP works just fine).
Of course, Tivo does rock. I'm still trying to adjust my TV watching now. Now I can stop being such a slacker because I can pause/record/rewind/etc. now that I have a Tivo (an especially while we're trying out the Plus service).
Off to bed since I no longer have to stay up late to watch "The Daily Show", "Futurama", or "The Family Guy".
