well, my wireless woes have ended.
after taking some time off, I tried to get my $9.99 SMC 2635W wireless card working on RH9.0. after using the config from here and the 1.05 drivers from here, I got it up and running with surprisingly little effort. while I need to specify the channel and ssid, and I can't get WEP to work, it is functional. cool.
