Does anyone think that the release of the recent Disney animation, Treasure Planet, based on the book by Robert Louis Stevenson is incredibly ironic given their policy of lobbying to extend the length of copyrights? Is it fair that nobody can do to Disney what they do to others.
This week I watched Evil Dead II, the masterpiece directed by Sam Raimi and starring Bruce Campbell. Probably the greatest sequel ever made (though I'm not really sure it should qualify as a sequel). I've never seen it on DVD before and the commentary track is great, as is the "making of". Definatly worth watching.

I took William to see Treasure Planet. It's remarkably close to the original (except for that whole space thing). So close, in fact, that you wonder "why would I want to see this instead of the original?" And the two main characters (pouting preteen and the caricature rough Irishman) were both repellant. It's a shame that so many talented people wasted their time polishing a turd of an idea.--Nat
