Why choosing a domain name that you can tell somebody over the phone is important:
(the client's name is removed to protect the innocent)
Client: I can't ftp to my site, I want to update some pages.
Me: Ok, what's the address?
Client: It's careers at xxx dot com
Me: (assumes careers.xxx.com which doesn't exist) Are you sure? That site doesn't exist.
Client: Yes, it's careers at xxx dot com.
Me: You're you sure, that's an email address rather than a site name.
Client: Yes, It's careers A T xxx dot com
Me: Oh, you mean careersatxxx.com
Client: Yes
Me: Sorry, we don't host that here.
