digital cable

I've had digital cable for nearly a month now and I've found it's definatly worth going from $15 for 'basic' to $45 for the digital package (I get all of HBO and Showtime free for 6 months (a cunning 'Bait & Hook')). I'm also going to have to put some of my next pay cheque towards getting a Tivo or something just to cope with the sheer amount that is on and so I can watch what I want rather than what's currently on.

One thing that is hard to get used to is the lack of adverts during films. I sometimes miss the break I used for making coffee, going to the loo, checking email, etc. I think having a Tivo and being able to press 'pause' is going to suit me just fine :)

Ouch!

In the UK I used to pay 9.99 UKP ($16) for basic cable and a phone line. I never realised what a bargain it was.

My phone bill here is about $100/month. $50 DSL, $25 basic phone (cheapest package Verizon sell), $10 for CID and blocking, and the rest calls.

Complete rip-off as far as I'm concerned, I'd ditch the land line for cellular if the coverage in VT wasn't so piss poor
