[ Hawkwood's Voyage Cover ]
The Monarchies of God series by Paul Kearney (starts with Hawkwood's Voyage). I've read the first three books of this series and it's moving along nicely. The nice thing about Paul Kearney is that he can tell a story in 320 pages that some fantasy authors (e.g. Robert Jordan) would pad out to three times that.

Talon of the Silver Hawk (Conclave of Shadows, Book 1) by Raymond E. Feist.

The Lord of the Isles Series by David Drake.
Not an especially great series, but original and compelling enough to keep me intestered. A bit repetitious; the latter books all have the same basic outline. The characters get split up by various evil wizards sending them through portals (other dimensions, to the past, to the future, etc) where they have to complete some sort of quest that fits into the bigger picture then they all get reunited at the end to save the day. Drake also has this annoying habit of pointing out some of the characters' traits over and over. Even with these negatives I kept turning the page to find out how it would end. Decent summer reading.
