After finding AOL is blocking SMTP to port 25, I started running sendmail on port 26 too. This worked for about a day before before it was blocked again.
AOL deny they block anything and they also won't talk to my user because he uses Outlook Express which they don't support. I think the only thing left to do is say "sorry you need to pick an ISP that actually lets you onto the internet".
